About Vanilla Eskimo
Eskimo is one of the oldest bar formats in the Russian ice cream vocabulary: plombir sealed inside a chocolate coating, portioned for one hand. It became a fixture of Soviet kiosks and street carts and stayed one, and vanilla was always the version people bought without thinking about it. Korovka iz Korenovki keeps that shape — a small bar, a thin shell, and cream that does most of the work.
Vanilla is where plombir has nowhere to hide. The style was defined by high butterfat and a short dairy base, with Soviet GOST standards setting minimum milk-fat levels — commonly cited at roughly 12 to 15 percent — and restricting what else could be added. Strip out the fruit and the caramel and the dairy has to carry the whole bar, which is exactly the point of this one.

What is the difference between the Eskimo bar and the Plombir cup?
Same style of ice cream, different format. The Plombir cup is a spoon-and-sit-down portion with no coating. The Eskimo is a single bar wrapped in chocolate, built to be carried and eaten in the hand. Pick the bar when you do not want a bowl.
Will the coating come away from the bar if it softens?
It can. The coating is thin and sets hard against frozen ice cream, so if what is underneath warms and shrinks back, the shell loses its grip and slides off in a sheet when you bite. If a bar softens in transit, lay it flat and refreeze it undisturbed before unwrapping, which gives the two layers a chance to set against each other again.
